Monday after the Second Sunday in Lent

Opening Sentence

To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, because we have rebelled against him and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by following his laws which he set before us.

They are coming to get me, O Lord; they speak wicked of me; hear my prayer; redeem me...
Genesis 41 Joseph, 30, Chief Steward of Pharaoh, saves a portion of grain when there is plenty and stores it; when famine hit - he make the King wealthy by selling grain to the people of Egypt and the world who comes to get grain to eat. How did the people of Israel come to Egypt? Through the famine.
1 Corinthians 4 Paul continues to write his pastoral letter to his parishioners of a church he and God founded; we are rich in all things because of Christ Jesus; regardless of hardship - we can endure as I have endured as a prisoner; I send you Timothy so that you don't forget the Word of the Lord - Jesus Christ.
Mark 3 Mark begins his story of Jesus with John the Baptist and then the growing ministry of Jesus; Great crowds respond to the healer Jesus; he goes away for a moment to name a group of his disciples he calls apostles - the founders of the post-resurrection church (although they do not know this yet). And then Jesus goes home.
Today - how are you called by Jesus to serve the world today?

Prayer For All Sorts and Conditions

O God, the creator and preserver of all, we humbly beseech you for all sorts and conditions of people; that you would be pleased to make your ways known unto them, your saving health unto all nations. More especially we pray for your holy Church universal; that it may be so guided and governed by your good Spirit, that all who profess and call themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life. Finally, we commend to your fatherly goodness all those who are in any ways afflicted or distressed, in mind, body, or estate; that it may please you to comfort and relieve them according to their several necessities, giving them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
