Image
Detail from the " Colonna del Verziere " ("Column of the Greengrocery market") in  Milan , Italy. The column was erected in 1580 as an  ex voto  for the end of the 1577 plague epidemy. It was completed only in 1673, when the statue of Jesus, sculpted by  Giuseppe  and  Gian Battista Vismara  on a drawing by  Francesco Maria Richini , was added. It is also a monument bearing since 1860 the names of the patriots of Milan who fell during the  "Five days of Milan" insurgency (1849). Picture by  Giovanni Dall'Orto , January 11 2009. wiki commons images - Christus Victor Highlights, Bible Study & Prayers | BCP Daily Office Reading | Easter | Opening Sentence | Alleluia!
