Moses for God asks Pharaoh to let the people go. Not only does he refuse but does not give them any materials thus doubling the work. The people complain to Moses, Moses complains to God, but God affirms God’s plan for the people. “I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my people, and I will be your God.” There then is a genealogy in case we forgot who God was saving and the family of Moses and Aaron.
