Psalm 140
Deliver me from evildoers, O Lord;
Keep me from the wicked;
People are against me;
Do not grant the wishes of evildoers;
Surely, You will save me

Acts 24
Felix waits around for Paul to bribe him for two years and Paul does not; Festus takes over as governor; Hears cases and asks Paul if he wishes to be tried by a Jewish tribunal; Paul says no and appeals to Caesar which is his right as a Roman citizen; Fetus grants his appeal.

Luke 8
Jesus and his disciples and some women he has healed who are now Jesus patrons, travel around the region; Jesus teaches the parable of the sower, the disciples ask what it means:
Seeds on the path: Hear the word but are taken away and fall from faith,
In the weeds: Hear the word but fall away and do not follow,
In the thorns: Hear the word but choked by the cares of the world,
In the good soil: Hear the word and it yields abundantly in the life of the person.

Prayers
For Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.
A Collect for Fridays

Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.
