Days of Pentecost

Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the skies rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation may spring up, and let it cause righteousness to sprout up also. | Isaiah 45:8, NRSV| Enriching Our Worship 1, p.18

Psalm 55 | Background
Hear my prayer, O Lord, and listen to my prayer;
The evil, fear, terror, and death are haunting me;
Let your justice come and clear the corruption;
Even my friends betray me;
I will call upon God even as I complain and lament;
God will bring them down.
God hears your prayers.

Acts 15 |
A delegation from Jerusalem came with Paul to deliver the news to the gentiles in Antioch; and they rejoiced. The faith moved from being a sect of Judaism to a new religion.

Mark 6 |
Jesus taught in his hometown; Who is this guy?; You never pull it off at your hometown; he sent out his disciples and gave them instructions - they went out 2 x 2 and healed and gave them the word of the Lord.

Collect for the Day
Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness, and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
For Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.
General Thanksgiving
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up our selves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.

For the Conservation of Natural Resources

Almighty God, in giving us

dominion over things on earth,

you made us fellow workers in your creation:

Give us wisdom and reverence

so to use the resources of nature,

that no one may suffer from our abuse of them,

and that generations yet to come

may continue to praise you for your bounty;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
