Today -  

J = Jeremiah From the Book of Jeremiah (NRSVA)

Chapter 30 - God to J - Write down everything as a book of
comfort. Judgement came. God will restore their fortunes.
God will punish the oppressors. 

Chapter 31 - God to J - I will be the God of all families and they
shall be my people. I loved you an everlasting love. Return to
Israel - return to Judah. Looking to the future.

Chapter 32 - J goes into real estate. Prayer - your steadfast love
Endures for thousands of generations.

Chapter 33 - oracles of restoration of the people

Chapter 34 - merged texts; two trajectories of fulfillment.

Chapter 35 - talks of bedowen people and their role in restoration.

Chapter 36 - J writes scroll for people to hear the word of the Lord.

Chapter 37 - Two accounts of the event of J being arrested for the last
time.

Chapter 38 - J is thrown into a well and rescued by a eunuch.
Jerusalem’s fall.

Jeremiah give judgement to the people and hope. Lived during
the golden age of King Josiah but also the exile to Babylon. Tone
tends to be on the judgemental side.

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.

Grant that we may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
