Happy New Year my sisters, brothers, and family in Christ!

I have decided to teach again my Read the Bible in a Year Bible Study.

This will be a virtual study posted on my The Bible in Time Blogspace.

This plan and study will give you time to spend in the Scriptures every day

… to be with the Holy Spirit as you are deepening your spirituality in the

the wonderment of a relationship with God.

The intent here is not to convert you to a particular way of thinking about

God. My thoughts as I walk with you and the Holy Spirit will hopefully give

you insights. I hope it helps you in your walk of faith.

I have had the great fortune and blessing of being with Jesus most of my life.

I have done this most of the time with others on their faith journey in a faith

community. I have been able to teach Christian adults for over 30 years

and have been deeply enriched doing this ministry.

This study can be taken in all at once or picked up at any time of the study since the posts can be read at any time. Sometimes I will be behind in posting.

This Bible Study will help people to wander through the Holy Bible

in a small way each day for the coming year with others around the world.

Each day it will feature:

  • Prayer

  • A section of the Bible

  • Some thoughts and reflections I have on the Scripture reading for the day.

This will take you between 5 - 15 minutes a day depending on your reading

and reflection. I would encourage you to open a composition book,

a text/document file, or speak into a computer to track your thoughts,

reflections, or insights you might receive each day.

Pray often!

I will provide you with supplemental information on the current book of the

Bible and the text as we go along. These will be documents posted on a daily

blog page where I will store these resources.

Yes, you are going to need a Bible to read, mark up, and make notes.

If you need one, I would suggest you get one that has been published

in the 21st century. The ones I use are:

  • The New Oxford Annotated Bible (NRSV), 5th edition. © 2018.

    • This Bible will give you some biblical research and study. It is an in-depth study bible and will give you more information then you need to know.

  • God’s Word ® Translation, © 2003.

    • I find this Bible to be a great devotional and easy reading bible in more modern-day American English. (remember it was published around the turn of the century)

  • The Common English Bible (CEB), © 2011.
    • My Katheryn is currently using this Bible for her daily devotions.

Biblegateway.com is an excellent resource with 100s of Bible translations and resources to use if you are an “online” person. The Internet is a vast universe of good and bad biblical resources.

I am writing and teaching this study from my perspective. You will have your own thoughts and perspectives. We are all unique creatures of God with a mind and a soul. And this is a very good thing that God has created.

May you be as inspired as I am every time I pick up God’s Word.

Blessings,

Let us pray …

Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written

for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn,

and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold

fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have

given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with

you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

(Book of Common Prayer, Proper 28)
