Fifth Day of Christmas |

Behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10, 11 BCP p. 75

Psalm 18 | Royal Psalm
I love you, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Isaiah 12 | Song of Thanksgiving - See Exodus 15
I will give thanks to the Lord;
Surely God is my salvation and give thanks to the Lord;
Sing praises;
Shout aloud for the holy one of Israel is with you.

Revelation 1
the Revelation of John to the churches in Asia:
Jesus is coming:
God is the Alpha and the Omega - the first and the last.

John 7 | At the Festival of Booths in Jerusalem - Jesus makes a bold announcement on the last day of the Festival.
I am living water - come and drink and have eternal life.
What he said created division in the religious community; no one would arrest him; the church leaders would not believe him for he was from Galilee or so they thought.

Collect of the Day: Christmas
O God, you have caused this holy night to shine with the brightness of the true Light: Grant that we, who have known the mystery of that Light on earth, may also enjoy him perfectly in heaven; where with you and the Holy Spirit he lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

A Collect for the Renewal of Life

O God, the King eternal,
who divides the day from the night
and turns the shadow of death into the morning:
Drive far from us all wrong desires,
incline our hearts to keep your law,
and guide our feet into the way of peace;
that, having done your will with cheerfulness while it was day,
we may, when night comes,
rejoice to give you thanks;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Social Justice
Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart, that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
