Psalm 86 | Background
Hear me, Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
Guard my life, for I am faithful to you;
save your servant who trusts in you.
You are my God; 3 have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.
You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.

1 Peter 5 |
To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be;not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

John 1 |
The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to
him, “Follow me.” Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. 45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.
“Come and see,” said Philip.

Collect for the Day
Almighty God, you have given your only Son to be for us a sacrifice for sin, and also an example of godly life: Give us grace to receive thankfully the fruits of his redeeming work, and to follow daily in the blessed steps of his most holy life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
For Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.

For Peace Among Nations

Almighty God our heavenly Father,

guide the nations of the world

into the way of justice and truth,

and establish among them that peace

which is the fruit of righteousness,

that they may become the kingdom

of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
