Psalm 56 | Background
Have mercy on me for my enemies are attacking me;
They come together against me; Case them down;
I call upon you, O Lord, and I will not be afraid;
You have rescued me and I walk among the living.

1 Corinthians 1 |
Paul - sending greetings and grace and peace; I give thanks to you always in Christ for you do not lack in any spiritual gift; God is faithful and you are called by Christ; be united and do not argue; There are no divisions in Christ; I am here to proclaim the Cross which is foolishness to the wise.

Matthew 4 |
Jesus was in the wilderness and there for 40 days; the devil tempted Jesus with food, testing God for safety, or the power to rule the entire world; get away and the devil left and angels waited on him.

Collect for the Day
O God, because without you we are not able to please you, mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
For Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hardwood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.

For the Conservation of Natural Resources
Almighty God, in giving us
dominion over things on earth,
you made us fellow workers in your creation:
Give us wisdom and reverence
so to use the resources of nature,
that no one may suffer from our abuse of them,
and that generations yet to come
may continue to praise you for your bounty;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Travelers
O God, our heavenly Father, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go: Preserve those who travel, in particular (name); surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their journey's end; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
