Ps 37:1-18; 37:19-42 | Exod. 20:1-21  | Col. 1:24--2:7 | Matt. 4:1-11

Psalm 37
Evildoers will fade like burned grass;
Follow the Lord;
Wait on the Lord for the wicked will be no more;
The Lord keeps the righteous!

Colossians 1 |Paul writes to a church;
I rejoice in my sufferings for the Body of Christ/the Church;
Jesus is the hope beyond all hope that we might be mature in Christ;
I want them to have all the spiritual gifts to build the Church;
Continue to live your life in Christ Jesus, rooted in the Lord.

Matthew 3
Right after His baptism, Jesus like the prophets of old went on a retreat
into the Desert and fasted for 40 days; the Devil (the Evil One) gives Jesus
three options for an easy life - bread (manna), see if God will save you (faith),
and power to rule the earth by just worshipping the Evil One; Jesus
rejects it all to serve the Lord (YHWH, I AM) alone.

Tomorrow |
Ps 105:1-22; 105:23-45 | Exod. 24:1-18 | Col. 2:8-23 | Matt. 4:12-17

Collect of the Day | Third  Sunday of Easter
O God, whose blessed Son made himself known to his disciples
in the breaking of bread: Open the eyes of our faith, that we may
behold him in all his redeeming work; who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and forever. Amen.

Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than
we can ask or imagine: Glory to him from generation to generation in
the Church, and in Christ Jesus forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20,21
