Today’s Reading

6/23/2019      Day 173 Proverbs 27:1 – 29:27

Reflection |
Today - Proverbs
Today’s readings continue with good sayings for the walk
of life:
Chapter 27 - Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know
what will happen - well meaning are the wounds a friend inflicts -
Do not forsake a friend or a parent - there will be enough for you
to live.
Chapter 28 - Contrasts righteous and wickedness - rule just -
The wicked will not prevail.
Chapter 29 - Continues comparing righteous and wickedness.
By justice, the ruler gives stability to the land.
(NOAB 5, 2018 a.d.)
Background |
A proverb is a statement of apparent truth that is based on
human experience and has endured over time. Attributed to
King Solomon but the composition of the book happened over
Centuries. Wisdom is a central character of the book along with
a woman of substance. The beauty of the book is that you can
focus on one verse or read the entire book as a literary whole.

Let us confess our sins to God.

God of all mercy, we confess that you have sinned against you,
opposing your will in our lives. We have denied your goodness in
each other, in ourselves, and in the world you have created. We repent
of the evil that enslaves us, the evil we have done, and the evil
done on our behalf. Forgive, restore, and strengthen us through
Our Savior Jesus Christ, that we may abide in your love and serve
only your will.

Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through
the grace of Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the
Power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen
