Today’s Reading -

9/24/2019     Day 267 Mark 15:1 – 16:20

Reflection |

Today -

Chapter 15 is the height of betrayal, trials, crucifixion, death, and burial
of Jesus.

Chapter 16 is strange in that scholars’ dispute where the real ending of
the gospel.

Ending one at vs 8 has people terrified of the resurrection and running
And telling no one.

Ending two is called the shorter ending which at least calls for the
Jesus and Peter commanding to spread the gospel.

Ending three including vs 9 - 20 Jesus appears to Mary (unbelief), then two disciples (unbelief), commissions the disciples to baptize and heal,
then ascends to sit at the right hand of God - then they went out to tell
the story of faith in Jesus.

Luke - Mark could have been a Hellenized Jew who lived
outside of Palestine. Written maybe between 64 c.e. and 70 c.e.

Collect for Proper 20 / Pentecost 15

Grant us, Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to love
things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among things
that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall endure; through
Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Pray for those seeking God’s calling for their next
venture in life. May we give thanks for all God’s gifts and
Wonders that God gives us continuously.
