Prayer Suggestion:

God of ages, in your sight nations rise and fall and

pass through times of peril. Now when our land is

troubled, be near to judge and to save.  May leaders

be led by your wisdom; may they search for your will

and see it clearly. In anyways we have turned from

your way, help us to reverse them. Give us your light

and your truth to guide us; through Jesus Christ,

who is Lord of this world, and our Savior. Amen.

  • By the Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith, dean of

  • Washington National Cathedral, and the Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington in response to the insurrection at the US Capitol - 010621 - View the full text and video.

Dear Friends in Christ,

Know that there are people praying for you as you do this study of the Word - Emmanuel - God is with us!.

Edwards Key points -

  • John and Peter are teaching in the Temple.

  • Peter heals a lame man through the power of God - giving what Peter can give to the man.

  • The result of healing is more come to have a relationship with Jesus.

  • An estimates 12,000 - 20,000 believers added over the next 6 years.

My Thoughts-

  • Peter doing the ministry of healing is in the context of him going to pray at the Temple. God’s ministry can happen at any time even when we don't plan for it.

  • A lame man is begging and Peter does not give him money but fixes his problem by the power of God. (vs 3:

6-7)

  • The healed man’s reaction is walking and jumping and praising God’s. This is an act of giving thanks. This man can come back fully into humanity as one healed.

  • Peter preaches his second sermon linking Jesus with the heroes of the Jewish faith - Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses. God has fulfilled a history of promises through Jesus Christ. (NOAB5 notes)

When is the last time you conveyed the healing power of God to your world?

Be like the healed lame man.

In Christ,
