Day 341 - Monday after the Second Sunday in Advent - BIT 2915

Read | Day 341 | Monday after the Second Sunday in Advent | December 7
Ephesians 3: 1-13, 14-21
Ephesians 4: 1-16, 17-32
Ephesians 5: 1-14

Background | The Center for Biblical Studies | Ephesians
There are several letters ascribed to Paul that most modern biblical scholars consider to be authored by someone else. Ephesians is one such letter. This scholarly consensus is based on analyses of language, style, and content, which seem to point to the author as someone living later than Paul. Not all scholars agree as to the motive of an author ascribing to Paul something Paul did not write. Some argue that the author intended to deceive people while others argue that this was an accepted technique in the ancient world, and no deception was intended.
Ephesians does not address any particular problem or false teaching. Rather, the letter was written to give the readers greater understanding of the nature of the gospel. In the gospel, God has blessed his people with every spiritual blessing by virtue of their being “in Christ.”  more - click here

For All Sorts and Conditions

O God, the creator and preserver of all, we humbly beseech you for all sorts and conditions of people; that you would be pleased to make your ways known unto them, your saving health unto all nations. More especially we pray for your holy Church universal; that it may be so guided and governed by your good Spirit, that all who profess and call themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life. Finally, we commend to your fatherly goodness all those who are in any ways afflicted or distressed, in mind, body, or estate; that it may please you to comfort and relieve them according to their several necessities, giving them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
